Analysis of gene expression in synovium in rheumatoid arthritis. The figure illustrates the clustering of cells in rheumatoid synovium on the basis of the patterns of gene expression. For this purpose, a visualization technique known as a tSNE plot is used. tSNE stands for T-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding and is an algorithm that allows presentation of large data sets. In this example, cell populations found in synovium are illustrated in a two-dimensional plot using color to distinguish the populations.
