Evolution of pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer appears through proliferative lesions PanINs (located in the pancreatic ducts), evolving to PanIN-1 (low grade lesions with infiltration of the carcinoma and accumulation of genetic alterations and infiltration), intermediate lesions with progression histological, hyperplasia, and primary carcinoma) and PanIN3 (high grade lesions with metastasis, called “carcinoma in situ”) and finally pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (the most prevalent and lethal form of this type of neoplasia).
