NETs enhanced the procoagulant activity of endothelial cells. ECs were incubated with isolated NETs from controls and healty subjects. There was an increase in the expression of (A) PS and (C) TF in ECs when incubated with NETs from symptomatic patients. In inhibition assays, the expression of PS (C) and TF (D) were decreased by NETs inhibators, DNase I and APC (D) Formation of fibrin in ECs showed a marked elevation when incubated with NETs from symptomatic patients (E) this effect could be reversed by DNase I and APC.
