Data represent the mean ± S.E.M of four to five animals per group. The levels of IL-6, IL-10, IFN-ϒ, MCP-1 and MIP-2 (pg/mg) in lung homogenate were increased in animals submitted to the elastase protocol compared to the saline groups. MCP-1 levels were increased in VAChT KDHOM-PPE group compared to WT-PPE.
*P < 0.05 compared to WT-SAL and VAChT KDHOM-SAL.
**P < 0.05 compared to WT-PPE.
