CD spectra of the N protein. The UV spectra obtained for the N_p1 (black line) and N_p2 (green line) samples. Both spectra display a strong negative signal with the maximum close to 200 nm, which corresponds to the presence of a disordered conformation. Specific negative maxima are also present in both samples at 236 nm. The N_p1 sample shows a positive signal with the maximum at 264 nm, which corresponds to the presence of nucleic acids. The inset presents the estimated percentage content of the secondary structures obtained from the deconvolution of the averaged N_p2 spectrum at a range of 210-230 nm. The deconvolution was conducted using CDNN 2.1 software (available at: (http://www.gerald-boehm.de/).
