Apoptosis was assayed by TUNEL (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling) stain (A) and quantified (B) by Image J expressed as apoptotic nuclei per image. Apoptotic protein Bax (C) and Bcl2 (D) were quantified by Western blot and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) was used as loading control. *p < 0.05 and **p < 0.01 versus vehicle, whereas †p < 0.05 versus doxorubicin alone.
