A box trap used for trapping wild boar at the study location (a). The open tipping door is secured by a wire. One end of the wire is attached to the door and the other end is hooked to the bottom of cage. The door is closed by manipulating the hook of the wire from inside the trap, usually during rooting. For a detailed photo of trigger mechanism, see Supplementary electronic material, SEM (Fig S1). Triggering the mechanism closes the door and releases the logs which secure the doors from the outside (b,c).
