Missing values were excluded from the analysis and percentages were computed out of the total number of observations. p-values from ANOVA models or Chi-Square statistics for continuous and categorical variables, respectively. SMD, standardized mean difference (i.e., the average of all possible standardized mean differences).

ANOVA model and SMD were computed on log values. Tertiles of ΔFS distribution are: ≤ 0.333 (I); 0.334 – 0.875 (II); >0.875 (III).
