1, experiment 1; 2, experiment 2. ITs: 0, fleck (;), 1 and 2 are resistant reactions, while 3 and 4 are susceptible reactions. Some plants have combinations of ITs, such as IT 32 which is primarily IT 3 with smaller amount of IT 2. Plus (⁺) and minus (^–) signs indicate larger and smaller pustules than normally seen for that IT (Stakman et al., ¹⁹⁶²). C = more chlorosis than normal, n = necrosis. A slash indicates a mixture of infection types observed on different plants in the population.
