Deficiency of Lbp or Cd14 abrogates lipopolysaccharide (LPS)–induced acceleration of posttraumatic osteoarthritis cartilage destruction in mice. Mice subjected to sham surgery or destabilization of the medial meniscus (DMM) (wild‐type [WT], TLR2−/−, TLR4−/−, LBP−/−, or CD14−/−) were intraperitoneally injected with phosphate buffered saline (PBS) or a subclinical low dose of LPS for 4 weeks, and euthanized 8 weeks after the surgery.
