The analyses were standardized to the distributions (mean or ratio) of cohort, sex, age, 24-hour heart rate, body mass index, smoking and drinking, serum cholesterol, history of cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, and treatment with antihypertensive drugs. Plotted values of 24-hour blood pressure span the 5^th to 95^th percentile interval. The continuous risk functions correspond with the 5^th, 25^th, 50^th, 75^th and 95^th percentile of ARV.
