Dynamics of apoptotic and necrotic neutrophils during and after three physical activities. Marathon induces the most apoptotic neutrophils followed by construction work and walking. Marathon, which causes the highest level of ITMs, induces the most necrotic neutrophils as the innate immune system picks the necrotic death pathway to further aggravate the ongoing inflammation.
