H2 induces the release of Ghrelin from the walls of the stomach, depending on the β1-adrenergic receptor.

Note: (A) Drinking water saturated with, H2 for 4 days, increases the release of ghrelin to plasma in mice. An intraperitoneal injection of a competitive inhibitor of the β1-adrenergic receptor, Atenolol (10 mg/kg) blocks the increase in ghrelin levels caused by hydrogen water.
