Each point represents a pair of OspC variants detected in a total of 119 infected I. scapularis ticks by deep sequencing [23]. The co-occurrence of an OspC pair was quantified by the ratio of the observed to the expected counts (x-axis; log2 scale) and by the statistical significance (y-axis; p value, log10 scale). Most OspC allelic pairs were more abundant than expected by chance (i.e., skewed to the right with log2 ratio > 0).
