Effect of nicotine (1 mg/L) pre-exposure (for 2 weeks) in the compartment preference test. Behaviour was evaluated for 5 min on Day 2, 7, 30 and 60 in terms of (a) time spent in three different compartments (enriched, empty, middle), (b) latency to the enriched side and (c) total number of transitions to the enriched side. Data are mean ± SEM. Comparisons were performed using two-way ANOVA followed by post-hoc Bonferroni test. WDW = withdrawal.
