A simple illustration of the order effect: Reading from left to right, the first/leftmost stimulus can affect the interpretation of the middle stimulus, such that it reads as A-B-14; but reading the same stimuli, from right to left, starting with 14 as the first stimulus, often makes people see the stimuli as A-13-14, i.e., the middle stimulus as a ‘13’ (or a ‘B’) depending on what you start with first.
