MEF2A activation is specifically mediated by the p38, but not ERK, JNK, or ERK5/BMK, pathway. 293 cells were cotransfected with pCMV-β-gal, pG5ElbLuc, and GAL4-MEF2A(wt). The p38 pathway, ERK pathway, JNK pathway, or ERK5/BMK pathway was activated by expression of MKK6b(E), MEK1(E), MKK7(D), or MEK5(D), respectively.
