Path analysis linking negative life events, social support with the change of depressive symptoms and academic engagement, adjusted for covariates (covariates included gender, residence and education level of mother). Note: t2,1 stands for measurement at follow-up while controlling for baseline. All estimates are standardized, with* indicating p < 0.05,** indicating p < 0.01,*** indicating p < 0.001. The overall model showed an adequate fit to the data: χ²(19) = 132.79, p < 0.001, RMSEA = 0.048 with lower 90% CI = 0.040 and higher 90% CI = 0.056, CFI = 0.980, TLI = 0.968.
