Simulating minimum fatty acid uptake requirement in response to various oxygen uptake constraints. Oxygen influx constraints were applied to each of the model instances (a) sensitive, (b) oxaliplatin-resistant, (c) sensitive in DMSO-containing medium, and (d) BOLD-100/KP1339-resistant. Using a parsimonious thermodynamic flux variability analysis (pTFVA; see Methods and Materials for details) the minimum possible fatty acid uptake was calculated for each oxygen constraint as shown.
