Overview of the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study, therapeutic groups and follow-up-examinations. Overall, 192 children with perinatal asphyxia were identified between 2008 and 2015. A total of 109 infants met the inclusion criteria. A total of 39 infants showed clinical signs of a hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy or correlating pathologic results in the amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram (aEEG) and were treated with THT. Eight of these infants were preterm newborns. Follow-up examinations were conducted at the age of (corrected) 24 months.
