Southern blot analysis of restriction endonuclease-digested genomic DNAs from rat and mouse. Genomic DNA isolated from Sprague-Dawley rat or Swiss Webster mouse liver was digested with EcoRI (lanes 2 and 7), EcoRI plus EcoRV (lanes 3 and 8), EcoRI plus NcoI (lanes 4 and 9), and EcoRI plus HindIII (lanes 5 and 10) or not digested (lanes 1 and 6). Electrophoresis and transfer were performed as described in Materials and Methods. The blot was hybridized with probe 2 (nucleotides 2200 to 3481). A BstE II digest of λ DNA (New England Biolabs) was used as a molecular size standard.
