Cytokine expression of T cells after stimulation. Isolated T cells were loaded with 80 µg Fe/mL SPIONs and were stimulated with a CD3/CD28/CD2 activation mix overnight. H₂O treated cells and cells without stimulation mix served as controls. The cells were then stained for CD4 and CD8, viability, and cytokine expression. Depicted are the percentages of CD4 (A–C) or CD8 (D–F) T cells expressing TNFα (A,D), IFNγ (B,E) or IL-2 (C,F).
