Summary of the contribution of NO3 transporters in rice. OsNRT1.1, OsNRT1.2, OsNRT2.1, and OsNRT2.2 (cooperating with OsNAR2.1) are responsible for NO3 uptake from the soil. OsNRT2.3a cooperating with OsNAR2.1 is responsible for root-to-shoot NO3 transport, and OsNRT2.3b is also responsible for transporting NO3 to the shoot and remobilizing N into the grain. OsNPF2.2 and OsNPF2.4 are involved in NO3 translocation. OsNPF4.5 is induced by mycorrhizal, involved in symbiotic N uptake. Blue line means NO3 uptake, yellow line means transport NO3 from root to shoot, red line means NO3 translocation, orange line means NO3 redistribution.
