Summary of the contribution of NO3− transporters in rice. OsNRT1.1, OsNRT1.2, OsNRT2.1, and OsNRT2.2 (cooperating with OsNAR2.1) are responsible for NO3− uptake from the soil. OsNRT2.3a cooperating with OsNAR2.1 is responsible for root-to-shoot NO3− transport, and OsNRT2.3b is also responsible for transporting NO3− to the shoot and remobilizing N into the grain. OsNPF2.2 and OsNPF2.4 are involved in NO3− translocation. OsNPF4.5 is induced by mycorrhizal, involved in symbiotic N uptake.
