Patients with antibiotic treatment prior to surgery, pregnant women, or impaired renal function were excluded before randomisation.
Patients with perforated appendix were excluded after randomisation. |

Treatment group: Tobramycin 1,5 mg and Lincomycin 600 mg in 500 ml saline i.v peroperatively.

Wound infection (Severe: Purulent discharge, cultures positive for potential pathogens; Mild: Erythema, scanty pus, cultures positive; Colonised: Not clinical infected, cultures positive). |
