Effects of MitoQ and sepsis on repetitive contraction trials. During repetitive contraction trials, force generation was significantly lower at all time points for diaphragms from CLP animals (n = 5 or 6 animals/group). Concomitant administration of MitoQ prevented these CLP-induced reductions in force at all time points (representative tracings are shown in A, mean results in B; P < 0.01 for comparison of the sham and CLP groups and P < 0.02 for comparison of the CLP and CLP + MitoQ groups at all time points). Data are presented as mean values with error bars representing 1 standard error of the mean.
