Use of phase randomization for map validation applied to P22 reconstruction (Hryc et al., 2017 ▸). The FSC between independent reconstructions is plotted for the original data (FSCg) and also for the same data after phase randomization at frequencies higher than 4.5 Å (FSCn). The true FSC (FSCt) represents correlations above 4.5 Å which are likely to be due to genuine signal rather than overfitted noise.
