The strains listed in Table 2 were crossed with strain DJ272-4-4 (MATa can1ts). The CAN1+ control was strain DJ178-2-2 assayed in triplicate. Two segregants containing the suppressor and the can1ts mutation were tested for canavanine sensitivity.

The MIC breakpoint was the canavanine concentration that caused 50% inhibition of growth at 34°C in liquid minimal medium lacking arginine.
