We propose an ordered manner in which the Rhes (blue) phenotypes relate to each other based on the collective evidence from this investigation. At baseline, Rhes is expressed throughout the cytoplasm extending into neuronal processes. As neuropathologic changes (orange) emerge, Rhes expression becomes dysregulated and appears punctiform within the cell body. Finally, Rhes is no longer expressed in the cell body of those neurons most affected by neuropathologic changes with some signal persisting in neuronal processes.
