Colocalization of claudin (CLDN)16 and zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) in human, mouse, and rat kidneys. CLDN16 and ZO-1 were colocalized in humans (A and B), mice (C and D), and rats (E and F) in the kidney cortex. CLDN16 was expressed at tight junctions in the human, mouse, and rat thick ascending limb of Henle’s loop (A–F) and in the rat distal convoluted tubule (F).
