The effect of BzATP treatment on the expression and production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in monocyte-generated macrophages from patients and controls. BzATP significantly increased the mRNA expression level of TNFA in AS and healthy macrophages. The production level of TNF-α was also significantly upregulated after BzATP treatment in both groups and monocyte-generated macrophages from AS patients significantly produced a higher amount of TNF-α after treatment compared to control ones. Besides, BzATP significantly elevated the expression level of IL1B in monocyte-derived macrophages from both patients and controls. The data are presented as the mean ± SEM (*P ≤ 0.05; **P ≤ 0.01; ***P ≤ 0.001).
