Fluorescence imaging of live cells. (a) Fluorescence live cell imaging of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell lines (Hep-G2, HuH-7, PLC/PRF/5, and Li-7) and HUVECs using SPiDER-βGal (1 μM). Fluorescence was determined using a TRITC filter (left) and Brightfield images (right); images were captured using a Keyence BZ-X800 with a TRITC filter (Excitation: 545/25 nm, Emission: 605/70 nm, Exposure time: 2 s). Scale bar = 100 μm. (b) The average fluorescence intensity of 10 randomly selected live cells imaged with SPiDER-βGal was determined using ImageJ (n = 10). Fluorescence intensity was significantly higher in HCC cell lines than in HUVECs (**p < 0.01). A two-tailed Mann–Whitney U-test was used. Error bars represent standard error (SE) values.
