1,8-cineol downregulates LPS-induced inflammation by blocking both NF-κB translocation and JNK pathway activation (Modified from Greiner et al. 2013 [68]). 1,8-cineol prevents the separation of IκB and NF-κBp65/p55 and then blocks NF-κB translocation from the cytoplasm to the nucleus, thus acting as a transcription factor for the expression of inflammation-related cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-8.
