Typical UV-visible spectrum of conversion of deoxy-myoglobin (deoxy-Mb) to carbon monoxide myoglobin (MbCO) by fac-[ReI(CO)2(NO)(N-N)Br]BF4 complexes 1–5 and 14. Solutions (20 μM Mb and photoCORM, 25 °C, 0.05 M phosphate buffer at pH 6.8) were exposed to a 275 nm light source (intervals of 10 min) before the conversion reached a plateau after 120 min. Prolonged exposure to the light source eventually favoured formation of metmyoglobin (MetMb), as evidenced by the peak at 620 nm. In the reaction scheme above the spectra, S = solvent molecule.
