Representative projection of male and female femurs from each treatment and injury groups, with region of interest (ROI) shown (A). Region of interest begins at 10% of the femur length away from the growth plate, extending an additional 15% of the femur length. There was significant treatment effect where femur length for male rats that were treated with antibiotics was reduced when compared to placebo treated male rats. No difference was observed between injury groups (B). Antibiotic treatment significantly reduced femur length of female sham rats when compared to placebo treated sham rats.
