Wild-type and Acod1-/- C57BL/6 mice were intranasally infected with 107 CFU of wild-type mCherry expressing B. abortus 2308. At 9 days post-infection, mice were sacrificed and lungs were harvested. Lungs were fixed and embedded. 5 μm-thick slides of were made with a cryostat. Slides were stained and analyzed by fluorescent microscopy for the expression of DAPI, phalloidin, mCherry and neutrophil (GR1) marker. The yellow triangles indicate the presence of B. abortus expressing the mCherry fluorescent tracer. These images are representative of at least 2 independent experiments on at least 3 mice per group.
