Transient expression of GFP-tagged CEC3 gene-induced cell death in N. benthamiana. N. benthamiana leaves were detached 5 days after infiltration with A. tumefaciens strains carrying GFP-tagged CEC3 genes in binary vectors, and stained with trypan blue to visualize cell death. Stacked bars are color-coded to show the number of each cell death level (+++, ++, +, −). Cell death induction levels were determined from observation of eight different stained leaves.
