The robotic phantom of a sacral pressure ulcer for evaluating the use of wound dressings. For the present study, the phantom has been placed in a supine position on a standard foam mattress. The controlled setup of the system, including monitoring of the wound replicate surface temperatures and the controlled release of exudate substitute are also shown (A). Following the application of a dressing, the (simulated) wound surface and dressing are laser‐scanned (separately) to acquire the three‐dimensional (3D) shapes of their interfacing surfaces. The acquired 3D geometrical data are then imported to a dedicated computer software for further data analysis (B)
