Intranasal vaccination elicited a Th1 cytokine response in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF). BALF was collected at 14 days after the second immunization. We assessed the contents of Th1-type cytokines (IL-2, IL-12p70, IFN-γ) and Th2-type cytokines (IL-10, IL-4, IL-5) in BALF using ELISA kits (Dakewei, Beijing, China) according to the manufacturer's instructions. Statistically significant differences were determined by one-way ANOVA with the Newman-Keuls posttest. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001. The bars represent the mean values with standard deviations.
