(A) The optix gene is located near the start of chromosome 18 and has been demonstrated to control the expression of red color pattern elements in Heliconius wings (Reed et al. 2011). (B) Relative divergence (FST) and admixture (fd) comparisons performed between H. himera, H. e. cyrbia, H. e. emma and H. e. favorinus. Colored circles match color codes in Figure 2.
