GLP-1 reduces oxidative stress in the pseudoislet (A) Including α cells in the pseudoislet reduces the percentage of oxidative stress-positive cells from 13.0 to 4.5% in basal conditions and from 18.8 to 8.8% upon induction of oxidative stress by H2O2 (***p < 0.001) (B) The GLP-1 agonist mimicked the effect of having α cells present in the pseudoislet devoid of α cells, as it reduced the number of oxidative stress-positive cells from 18.8 to 10.5% (***p < 0.001). Results are expressed as mean ± SEM, and each data set includes sixteen pseudoislets (n:16), and the experiment was repeated four times (N:4).
