Table 2.

Tissue histological scores in liver, kidney, and heart of rats of control (C), sepsis (S), and meldonium + sepsis (M + S) groups: Liver Suzuki histological score (0–4) based on the sinusoidal congestion, vacuolization of hepatocyte cytoplasm, and parenchymal necrosis (0—no changes, 1—minimal changes, 2—mild changes, 3—moderate changes, 4—severe changes); Renal histological score (0–4) based on the tubular epithelial cell flattening (TF), brush border loss (BBL), bleb formation (BF), tubular necrosis (TN), and tubular lumen obstruction (TO) (0—no changes, 1—minimal changes, 2—mild changes, 3—moderate changes, 4 or greater—severe changes); Heart histological score (Dallas criteria) based on the extent of inflammatory infiltration (II) (0—no changes, 1—mild changes, 2—moderate changes, 3—severe changes), and its distribution (1—focal, 2—confluent, 3—diffuse).
