Effect of the LexA-VP16 fusion protein on the replication of the ARS1 plasmid containing the B2 mutation. The indicated ARS1 plasmids containing the LexA binding site in place of the B3 element (B3/LexA [pHK804] and B3/LexA, mB2 [pHK805]) were transfected together with plasmids expressing either the LexA DNA binding domain or the LexA-VP16 fusion protein, and replication activity was analyzed as described in Materials and Methods.
