Total IgG and brain reactive IgG in mouse serum. BTBR mice have significantly higher serum IgG levels (a) and serum anti-brain antibodies than B6(C57BL/6) mice. Sera were obtained from 8-12 weeks old mice. To detect anti-brain antibodies sera were added to wells coated with SCID whole brain proteins (10 μg/well) and the level of brain-reactive IgG was measured by using the HRP conjugated goat anti-mouse IgG. Data are representative of three (A) and two (B) independent experiments with 3 or 4 pairs of mice in each experiment. The p values were determined by unpaired two-tailed Student’s t-test, and p < 0.05 is considered as significantly different. Error bar indicates mean ± SEM. ∗ indicates a significant difference between the two strains.∗ = p < 0.05, ∗∗ = p < 0.01, ∗∗∗ = p < 0.001.
