High‐Risk Groups for Influenza Complications15

All children aged 6–59 mo
Adult of age ≥50 y
Women who are or will be pregnant during influenza season

Adults with chronic medical conditions which include:

  • Chronic lung disease (including asthma)

  • Cardiovascular disease (excluding isolated hypertension)

  • Endocrine or metabolic disorders (eg, diabetes mellitus)

  • Neurologic and neurodevelopment conditions

  • Blood disorders (eg, sickle cell disease)

  • Renal disorders

  • Liver disorders

Immunocompromised adults (including HIV/AIDS) or those on immunosuppressive treatment
Individuals with body mass index ≥40
Individuals aged <19 y on long‐term aspirin‐ or salicylate‐containing medications and who might be at risk for Reye syndrome after influenza infection
American Indians/Alaskan Natives
Residents of nursing homes and other long‐term care facilities
