Table 2.
The repeatability and stability of the CVB1-challenged neonatal mouse model.
| Experiment | Number of mice | Onset of symptoms (d) | Onset of death (d) | The time of all mice died (d) | Mortality ratio (%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 7 | 3 | 4 | 10 | 100 |
| 2 | 6 | 3 | 4 | 10 | 100 |
| 3 | 6 | 3 | 4 | 8 | 100 |
| 4 | 8 | 4 | 5 | 11 | 100 |
| 5 | 6 | 3 | 4 | 9 | 100 |
The results of five replicate and independent experiments that were challenged by a CVB1 clinical stain (10 TCID50 per mouse) in neonatal BALB/c mice at different times are shown. The clinical symptoms and mortality were monitored and recorded daily, which showed good reproducibility.
CVB1 Coxsackievirus B1; TCID50 median tissue culture infective dose.
