Table 1.

Antimicrobial drug class and plasmid class of the MDR associated STs from different MGT levels

graphic file with name mgen-7-0605-i001.jpg

a, MGT-STs with more than 80% of the isolated harbouring AR genes to three or more drug classes were identified and defined as MDR STs. isolates sets in MDR associated MGT-STs were mutually exclusive. Note aac(6')-Iaa_1 gene for aminoglycoside resistance, which was present in almost all isolates, was excluded for the AR analysis.

b, MGT3-CC161 include 29 isolates with MDR genes (to five drug classes) and 38 isolates with AR genes to two different drug classes.

c, MGT4-CC16 and CC11 belonged to MGT3-CC15 and CC10, which were representative of the two African lineages.

d,The gradient green to gray colours reflect the proportion of isolates from 100 to 1%.

e, Continents in which the MDR STs were observed: EU refers to Europe, NA to North America and OC to Oceania.
