TroR is required for S. suis growth in metal-replete medium supplemented with excess Zn, Cu, or Co. The WT, ΔtroR, and CΔtroR strains were grown in TSBS medium supplemented with deionized water (A), 4 mM Mn (B), or various concentrations of Zn (C), Cu (D), or Co (E). The strains were grown in 96-well plates (200 μl per well) at 37°C with linear shaking, and the OD₅₉₅ values were measured hourly. At least three independent experiments were performed; the data shown are the means ± standard deviations (SDs) from three wells in a representative experiment.
