CONSORT diagram showing participant flow through the study. ¹Participants who were eligible for the study did not differ significantly on symptom severity at screening (AUDIT, GAD-7, Mini-SPIN) from those who did not complete screening, nor from those who were excluded (p values > .32), with the exception of GAD-7 scores, which were significantly higher among excluded participants than eligible participants (t(463) = 2.45, p = .01). ²Participants who were randomised to the study had significantly higher AUDIT scores at screening than participants who were eligible but did not proceed to treatment (t(195) = -3.23, p = .001). Mini-SPIN and GAD-7 symptom severity was not different between these two groups at the screening assessment (p values > .52). ³One ineligible participant was incorrectly randomized due to a programming error and was excluded from the study, leaving a final sample of n = 123.
