The cis-acting sequence motifs H1, H2, and H3, involved in mating-type switching and flanking each MAT locus, are shown in dark gray. The MAT locus is located on supercontigs (scaffolds) 9, 13, and 13, respectively, of the P. jirovecii, P. carinii, and P. murina genome assemblies (25).
