Periodic acid-Schiff stained glomeruli in the brothers were almost normal except for a slight increase in the mesangial matrix (a,b). There were no abnormalities in the interstitial area, including the proximal tubules (a,b). In both brothers, some foot processes were disproportionately flattened and agglutinated, whereas the majority of the foot processes appeared normal (c,d). Abnormal foot processes are shown by red arrows, and normal foot processes are shown by yellow arrows.
